First I want to start out by saying HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING! Today is the official first day of spring for 2012 and here in sunny California it is beautiful outside. I love spring because it symbolizes the start of something new. I will be blogging about some fun spring cleaning ideas, and spring make up looks you can do. However for today I wanted to share with you something that I heard about.
Apparently, Israel has recently passed a law in which super skinny and/or underweight models can no longer be used in any kind of runway show or advertisement. In order for a model to be able to participate they will have to provide a medical letter from a doctor stating that they are within a healthy weight range. Also, all magazine and advertisements must disclose when the picture has been altered. To read more about this new law please CLICK HERE. Below you will find a famous picture of Britney Spears that she released to show everyone how they retouch her body during photo shoots:
Now this is someone who has personal trainers and chefs and even she needs some retouching. How is the average young girl looking at this advertisement suppose to feel about herself?
What do you think about this new law? Do you think it will help to prevent self esteem issues within young woman? Do you feel society puts unrealistic expectations on woman to be thin? Do you think this law should be brought over to the states? Let me know!
