Red Carpet Secrets Revealed…

By qtli3027 On February 28, 2012 In That's my Life With No Comments Permanent Link to Red Carpet Secrets Revealed…Permalink

Since we have recently been bombarded with many awards events lately I figured Id do a blog post on what some celebrities do to look amazing on the red carpet. I was randomly reading a magazine one day and I came across a couple of red carpet secrets that I thought where fun that I wanted to share with you.

Secret #1:
When you have a special event coming up, exfoliate your skin the day before the event. Also, try wearing a hydrating mask for at least 10 minutes the day of an event. The extra hydration will not only allow your make up to lay smooth on the face, but will provide a natural glow to the skin.
*Note: I suggest not trying NEW skin care products right before an event. Try a product at least two weeks before an event to make sure your skin has no adverse reactions.

Secret #2:
Not that this is really a ‘secret’ but, get down to spray town! Thats right, get yourself a spray tan. Also, YES you can allow them to spray your face, but ask for it light. Its better to be too light than too dark. You can always darken your face further with make up.
*Qtlissy’s tip: Make sure to exfoliate 24hours before you go spray tanning. Having freshly exfoliated skin will allow your spray tan to go on more even and last longer. Also, after your first shower after your spray tan hydrate hydrate hydrate!

Secret #3:
FOUNDATION ON YOUR WHAT??? No! Not what your thinking… Foundation on your legs. Yup thats right! Take your foundation or ideally a foundation a few shades darker than your natural skintone (it does not have to be an expensive foundation) and mix with body lotion and apply mixture to legs. Not only will this give you a great glow but it will help to even out skin tone and cover up any imperfections.
*Qtlissy’s Tip: Try Loreals “True Match” foundation for your legs mixed with your favorite body lotion.

Secret#4:
DRINK WATER! I hear this about so many celebrities: when they have a big shoot or a red carpet event they guzzle tons of water, Water helps to release toxins from your body and helps your skin stay plump and glow. Sometimes eight glasses a day just isn’t enough, if we are even able to get that much. It is suggested, that ideally you want to drink half your body weight in ounces of spring water everyday before a big event. Bottoms UP!

QtLissy’s Bag of Tricks: Ardell Lashes…Awesomeness on the cheap!

By qtli3027 On February 27, 2012 In You Tube Tutorials With No Comments Permanent Link to QtLissy’s Bag of Tricks: Ardell Lashes…Awesomeness on the cheap!Permalink

Name: Ardell Fashion Lashes
Found: At Drugstores
Price: $5.00
These lashes are so amazing because they blend in with your natural lashes beautifully. They are easy to apply and take off. The cost you cant beat for the quality that you get with these lashes. Also, if you take care of the lashes properly you will be able to use them over and over again. Below I explain how to take care of your false lashes so you can reuse them.

False Lash Care:
1. When you go to remove your false lashes, close one eye at a time and lightly slide the false lash off your natural lashes, do not pull from one corner across.

2. Remove glue that is on the band of your false lashes. The glue should pull off easily.

3. Place the false lashes back into the case they came in. Make sure to place each lash on the little rim to help keep their shape.

If you follow these steps you will get multiple uses out of your false lashes. Hope you found this helpful.

The BIGGEST “No-No” in Make up

By qtli3027 On February 26, 2012 In That's my Life With No Comments Permanent Link to The BIGGEST “No-No” in Make upPermalink

What is the #1 WORST thing for you to do when it come to make up? You’ve heard it time and time again:

DO NOT WEAR YOUR MAKE UP TO BED!

I cannot express to you enough of how bad this in for your skin. You know how on TV or in movies everyone wakes up with a beautiful full face of flawless make up? Well, not in the real world. If you want to have gorgeous flawless skin, then keeping make up on overnight (even mineral make up) IS NOT recommended. When you sleep your body heats up, which is why you sweat, and when you sweat your pores open and when your pores open that allows the make up to fall into them. Along, with your make up, dirt and debri from the day get into your pores as well. EWWWWWW! Gross! Your skin can become dull looking from wearing make up to bed on a regular basis. Not to mention the break outs or clogged pores (like the ones seen below) that are from debri being trapped:
Also, another problem with wearing make up to bed that some people don’t take into consideration is mascara. If you have mascara on your lashes, your lashes are naturally more brittle. If you have old dried out mascara from the day and you fall asleep with it, as you roll around in bed or rub your eyes without even knowing it while sleeping your lashes can (and do) break and fall off or OUT! Now obviously they are not all going to fall out all at once but you will lose them over time. As we age our lashes already start to fall out naturally, now sleeping with mascara only adds to this problem.

Now for the good news: What can we do to prevent all this: WASH YOUR FACE before going to bed. I suggest starting out your face wash with an eye make up remover first. Remove eye make up, including all mascara, with a gentle eye make up remover. Then go ahead and wash your entire face with your favorite facial cleanser and warm, not hot, water. Often I have to wash my face twice to make sure I have removed all traces of make up. You can use a facial brush or washcloth to cleanse face but it is not necessary. Sometimes facial brushes/washcloths can be too abrasive and irritate the skin, do what is right for you. You can exfoliate your skin two to three times a week with a gentle exfoliator of your choosing. After you are done cleansing your skin PAT your face dry, but leave it slightly damp and add a good coat of your favorite moisturizer. I understand that there are those nights where, washing your face is just not going to happen. If this happens, have some facial wipes handy so you can at least try and get that first layer of make up off your face before you go to sleep. I like the:

                   Ponds original all day clean

With this regime you will allow your skin to breath throughout the night and your pores will be receive all the yummy nutrients your moisturizer/treatment has to offer. Let me know if you guys would like to see a video of what my nightly skin regime is.

Can an Energy Bar make you MORE beautiful?

By qtli3027 On February 24, 2012 In That's my Life With No Comments Permanent Link to Can an Energy Bar make you MORE beautiful?Permalink

If you’re anything like me, your mornings are always go…go…GO! Sometimes we run out of the house without breakfast. One of my biggest things is, if I am working out, my glowing green smoothie is not enough for me. However, I have tried A LOT of different energy bars, and most of them taste like chalk, or they are crumbly and too messy to eat while driving. Well, I discovered a group of energy bars that taste amazing and are great for you. They are called Greens Plus and they are AMAZING! They taste, honestly, like a candy bar! There has been several times where I passed on a dessert and skipped up one of these bad boys instead. They also provide me enough energy to get me thru a rigorous workout.

Here is a formal statement the company provides on their website:
“Greens Plus, our flagship product, is a Synergy of 29 nutrient-rich Superfoods, Sea Vegetables and High-energy Herbal extracts. The first nutritionally-complete Whole Food powder, one serving of Greens Plus delivers more organic vitamins, essential minerals, and high-ORAC antioxidants than 5 servings of fruits and vegetables and provides every vibrant color in the Dietary Food Spectrum as recommended by the USDA.”

The bars that are pictured at the beginning of this posting literally taste like a delicious candy bar. If I have a sweet tooth instead of grabbing for a snickers bar I choose these. They are so good. You can have these for breakfast, as a snack during the day or as a dessert. I cannot say enough great things about this bar. You can find these bars at most health food stores and I have also gotten them at the supermarket. They have gluten, Soy and dairy free versions of these bars that are delicious as well. Also, if you dont like chocolate (what woman doesn’t like chocolate?!?!) they have non chocolate versions also, which taste really good too.

With a single bar running you about $3 to $4 these energy bars are not the cheapest. But, you will love them! They have so many health benefits, as you can read on their site, and they taste WAY better than that chalky texture and taste we are all use to from these other energy bars out there. If you get a chance to get one of these, I hope you love them as much as I do. Don’t go hungry, Go GREEN!
